Director, Transfer Pricing Job (Southern California)
High technology company locate in Southern California seeks Transfer Pricing Director to support the Global Head of Tax in developing and implementing operational and tax and transfer pricing strategies. This role supports the company’s operational model in a way that is consistent with legal and regulatory requirements around the world. A key objective of the Transfer Pricing Director is to understand the changing transfer pricing environment and manage transfer pricing risks globally. This includes managing questions raised by tax administrations, evaluating risks and opportunities, formulating and implementing transfer pricing policies around the world that meet the challenges of a highly complex and rapidly changing legal and regulatory environment.
Manage, co-ordinate and/or perform economic, functional and financial analysis to enable (1) identification, implementation and documentation of the most appropriate transfer pricing structure, (2) compliance with local transfer pricing documentation requirements and (3) positioning of transfer pricing defense strategies under audit and identification of implications of alternative settlement scenarios. Support Business Development proposals to ensure appropriate ownership aligned with decision making, structuring and positioning of potential comparators (licenses, co-marketing/co-promotion, acquisitions, disposals, etc.). Build relationships with local and regional commercial management to fully understand the value drivers for key products and terms and value drivers for third party co-marketing type agreements etc. for potential use as comparable profit measures.
Responsibilities require management and analysis of complex corporate issues utilizing financial and economic analysis involving discussions with internal and external management advisors to establish a defendable and well documented position. The role requires you to support and manage questions, audits, tax disputes raised by tax authorities as well as build open and transparent relationships with the relevant tax authorities across the different territories in the region. In addition, pro-actively seek opportunities to improve upon existing entity structures and transfer pricing processes wherever possible. Through group presentations and individual meetings educate managers on transfer pricing strategies, policies and the associated financial risks.
Education And Experience Required
Role requires ten to fifteen years of transfer pricing experience in public accounting or combined public accounting and corporate. A CPA and/or a Master’s Degree is preferred. Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and have advanced knowledge of Excel with the ability to create and update complex tax forecasting models.
