Alteryx is one of the common tools that is used to automate any type of process that requires data alteration before use. While Alteryx is a powerful tool, in my opinion as a Tax Technology consultant with over 20 years of experience, I find Alteryx to be one of the most expensive options for most tax departments. Instead, in most cases, Microsoft Excel is a better choice. MS Excel's Power Query which has been around for over a decade is just as powerful and comes free of charge. As of 2023, Alteryx costs about $5,000 per user every year.
