I live in Florida, work in Texas and the company I work for is based in Louisiana. My employer withheld $2400 in Louisiana state tax. H & R Block just did my taxes and I only got a $400 refund on the state taxes. Why did I have to pay $2000 in LA state taxes when I live and work in states that do not have a state tax? If this is a mistake how do I fix it? Thank you!

I am so sorry for the problem you had.  Please take your return back to the preparer you used for H&R Block.  Inform them that they need to complete your return as a non-resident return and attach a preparers note saying you did not work or reside in Louisiana at anytime and the withholding was an error on the employers part.  That should get you everything back.  If you need assistance or the preparer in Florida needs assistance with the Louisiana return please have them call me at 318-747-2126 or email me at Kathryn.morgan@tax.hrblock.com">Kathryn.morgan@tax.hrblock.com.
