I have a home computer with partial use for home business that is depreciated. I also have a second old computer that is kept at house of relative solely for business use when working remotely from that location when visiting. Can I also take depreciation on business use portion of second computer?
Most of time the second computer is in storage as it is at secondary location solely for my work use. So although it is out of use most of the time the percent os use that is for work is actually high since thats its purpose.

Technically you can deduct depreciation on the second computer. However, you state that it is "old." Assuming that it has been in service for more than a year, you have, by default, chosen not to depreciate the computer. In order to take depreciation, you would be doing a change in accounting method. This would involve the completion of Form 3115, which is a very complex form, and probably not worth your effort. If I were preparing the 3115 for you, my fee would likely exceed any tax benefit from the deduction.
