If they are indeed repairs, you should be able to deduct them. Distinguish first if they will add value to your property and will last more than one year; then they are capital expenses which are added to your rental asset schedule and depreciated. Landscaping (shrubs trees fences, which I always like to do because it attracts renters) are considered improvements and should be depreciated over 15 or 20 years.
