Head of Tax (Silicon Valley Company)

TaxConnections has been retained by a very successful high technology company in Silicon Valley. The Head of Tax will work closely with C – Suite Executives in managing and reviewing global corporate tax compliance, the global tax provision, transfer pricing and treasury strategy. Responsibilities include managing global outside tax consultants and reviewing processes and procedures. The Head of Tax will partner with internal business leaders to effectively manage exposure.

The role requires an individual who can effectively communicate with internal and external partners and provide business options to management executives. The ability to understand the company’s products and monitor transactions to identify areas of risk and tax opportunity it important.

The role requires a hands-on business executive who is a team player with good judgement and understands the importance of building scalable business processes. Additionally, the role requires a self-starter and high achiever with initiative; and a superior problem solver who possesses the ability to interpret the impact of key business drivers. Tax Manager/Partnerships (Pleasanton, CA)

The Tax Manager role requires partnership, S corp and individual tax consulting experience and the skills to effectively diagnose clients’ needs in order to develop and implement solutions. Primary responsibilities involve providing tax compliance, tax accounting, tax research and planning on partnerships, s corps and individual tax return for sophisticated clientele. We will build upon your technical strengths in order to expand your expertise in partnership, s corp and individual taxation. The Tax Manager role requires a minimum of five to ten years tax experience with a solid working knowledge of partnership, s corp and individual taxation. A BS/BA in Accounting, a CPA and/or MST required. This opportunity is ideal for individuals with Big Four, national or regional firm experience; or combined public accounting and corporate experience. Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word with tax software experience highly desirable.

M&A Tax Managing Director (the “Managing Director”) Northern California

The M&A Tax Managing Director (the “Managing Director”) is a market facing leadership position with direct path to partnership. This role is available due to the continued expansion and success of the transaction advisory practice. The Managing Director will team with the west region transaction advisory partners to grow the practice and will lead a team responsible for traditional large firm M&A tax consulting (deal structuring, due diligence, post-deal integration, tax attribute management, and other special projects).

In addition, responsibilities include: Teams with partners and internal support functions (BD, marketing, etc.) to develop new business; manages significant client relationships (new and existing); mentors staff and otherwise significantly contributes to team/resource building; identifies and analyzes tax risks and opportunities while advising both strategic and private equity buyers and sellers on alternative tax strategies for acquisition, disposition, and restructuring of businesses; assists in reviewing and analyzing definitive agreements and providing tax opinions; reviews, assesses and advises clients regarding the tax computations reflected in their financial models, and assists clients in the quantitative and qualitative analysis of the tax data in their financial projections for the transaction manages risk and financial performance of engagements including budgeting, billing and collections; works closely with and manages colleagues from the offices around the world; teams with other professionals to identify new marketplace opportunities and grow the practice; builds and manages client relationships and articulate complex information when providing crucial negotiation insights; develops and mentors subordinates in order to support career satisfaction and progression.

The Managing Director role requires an individual with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience and requires technical competence across multiple US Federal, International and State Income tax disciplines. Although expected to be a US federal income tax specialist, a fundamental working knowledge of all non-income based Federal, State and Foreign tax regimes, including but not limited to indirect, payroll, property and Ad Valorem taxes is required. In addition, the individual must have experience managing multiple client engagements and client services teams. The Managing Director must have strong leadership, market facing, and written and verbal communications skills. The ability to travel when necessary is also important.

Tax Manager, Sales, Use, Property and Local Taxes

Responsibilities include the timely and accurate completion of filings and various tasks related to the Company’s corporate sales, use, property and miscellaneous tax compliance. The Tax Manager will interact with the in-house tax department, IT, accounting and finance teams, co-sourcing service providers, and government tax agencies in meeting tax compliance and tax audit requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Tax Compliance: 80%

Tax Audits and Tax Notices: 20%
