I am currently a Senior Director in the tax department of Broadcom Corporation (a Fortune 500 company). I have been there 7 years with overall responsibilities include overseeing the Company's World-wide tax provision, maintaining the Company's $1.4B FIN48 reserve, oversee the Company's foreign tax provisions for more than 50 statutory financial statements, review of the Company's federal and state tax compliance, as well as over 50 foreign tax returns. Oversee the handling of the federal, state and foreign tax controversies and maintenance of the worldwide tax structure. Broadcom has participated in over 54 acquisitions of which the last 12 acquisitions (largest acquisition was $3.7B) I was personally involved with. This includes Avago Technologies acquisition of Broadcom on 2/1/16. Besides being involved with the purchase accounting and due diligence on the acquisitions, I have participated in §382 studies for ownership changes, transaction cost analysis, APB23 computations and earnings and profits calculations. I was the tax coordinator on the Company's change from its business application software from PeopleSoft to SAP and implemented OneSource as the Company's tax provision software. Legacy Broadcom managed to a 1.8% effective tax rate.
