Doug is a Partner and the International Tax practice leader in the Tax Services group of Brown Smith Wallace. With over 24 years of experience, he is skilled at advising on international expansion, developing global tax strategies, assessing global tax risk management and navigating the changing global tax environment.

His areas of expertise include global tax strategy development, cash repatriation strategies, transfer pricing, cross border disputes management, exporting initiatives, federal tax audit management, international tax compliance, and international expansion.

Doug comes from Gardner Denver, Inc., a global manufacturing company, where he created the internal tax department and served as Vice President of Corporate Taxation. During his tenure, he assisted with multiple acquisitions totaling over $1 billion, reduced the effective tax rate from 33% to 26% and efficiently repatriated nearly $500 million of overseas earnings.

His experience also includes developing the St. Louis international tax practice for KPMG, serving as principal of global tax at Andersen LLC, and working for Thomas & Betts Corporation, a publicly traded manufacturing company, as director of international tax.

A licensed CPA, Doug earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from the University of Missouri – Columbia.
