As a Managing Director, James leads a team of DMA sales/use tax professionals in the Western United States. He conducts sales/use tax overpayment reviews and transaction analyses for DMA’s Fortune 1000 clients. James also performs nexus reviews, develops tax matrices, and reviews sales/use tax audit assessments. Additionally, James provides training seminars to clients and conducts tax research on an ongoing basis. His core focus at DMA is the study of sales/use tax law to ensure exceptional sales/use tax services are provided to clients.

With more than sixteen years of experience, he has performed sales/use tax reviews, audit defense, Washington Business & Occupation tax analyses, and extensive research for clients in a variety of industries including oil and gas, financial services, government contracting, telecommunications, retail, and healthcare. He frequently works with the State of California in addition to North Dakota and Washington on prospective exemptions and the resolution of tax disputes.
