He represents individuals, closely held businesses, and corporations in Texas tax litigation in all forums, including State Office of Administrative Hearings, District Court, the Court of Appeals, and the Texas Supreme Court. He also represents clients in IRS audits, appeals, and litigation in the United States Tax Court, Federal District Courts, U.S. Court of Federal Claims, and U.S. Court of Appeals.
In addition to his litigation practice, Edward assists clients with tax planning advice at both the state and federal level. He advises clients on minimizing the tax costs on international operations through the use of applicable credits and international tax treaties. Prior to his return to private practice, Edward was a member of the Administrative Hearings section of the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts’ Administrative Hearings and Tax Litigation Division. Edward was principally focused on representing the Comptroller regarding contested audits and denial of refunds involving Texas franchise/margin tax, sales and use tax, natural gas and oil production (severance) taxes, mixed beverage tax and the International Fuel Tax Agreement.
