The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the Nobel Peace Prize for 2022 to one individual and two organisations.
The Peace Prize laureates represent civil society in their home countries. They have for many years promoted the right to criticise power and protect the fundamental rights of citizens. They have made an outstanding effort to document war crimes, human right abuses and the abuse of power. Together they demonstrate the significance of civil society for peace and democracy.
According to the Nobel Peace Prize Organization, this year’s awards were given to to one individual and two organisations.The Peace Prize laureates represent civil society; they have for many years promoted the right to criticise power and protect the fundamental rights of citizens. They have made an outstanding effort to document war crimes, human right abuses and the abuse of power. Together they demonstrate the significance of civil society for peace and democracy. The Memorial is based on the notion that confronting past crimes is essential in preventing new ones.
This year’s Peace Prize is awarded to human rights advocate Ales Bialiatski from Belarus, the Russian human rights organisation Memorial and the Ukrainian human rights organisation Center for Civil Liberties. We congratulate this years winners for their contributions to civil society.
The public can nominate a person for the Nobel Peace Prize by submitting an application anytime February through May 2023. Based upon all the truth being told at Twitter, Elon Musk should be seriously considered for a Nobel Peace Prize in 2023.
