VP Tax, Real Estate (Oregon)

Responsibilities: The VP Tax is responsible for providing company-wide leadership of the tax function including tax strategy, business and tax planning, tax audits and tax accounting for company and wealthy family. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with all Federal, State, Local and applicable foreign tax laws and regulations. The VP Tax will be responsible for research and identification of tax savings opportunities including the identification of appeal opportunities to reduce property tax assessments; and for ensuring compliance with all Federal, State, Local, Property, Sales & Use and applicable tax laws in jurisdictions the company operates. Provide counsel and guidance to management on tax matters including legislative and regulatory developments. The role will also oversee and provide direction to the tax team for compiling, preparation and filing of tax returns, analyze calculations of tax provisions, and the disclosure of all tax matters in company’s financial accounts.

The responsibilities also involve the following:(1) Identify, research and resolve technical issues.(2) Ensure compliance with the tax law, regulations, and rules are completed on a timely and accurate basis,(3) Provide direct and indirect tax support to business units,(4) Manage the research of tax issues and positions taken by the company,(5) Review work papers and research prepared by tax staff,(6) Build tax models and forecasts for emerging tax issues and analysis;(7) Collaborate with internal and external parties to gather information, analyze and complete projects;(9) Proactively identify areas for process improvements and implement solutions to streamline processes,(11) And Special ad hoc projects as required by management.

Requirements: The VP Tax role requires a strong understanding of real estate investment fundamentals with family and wealth planning also highly desirable. The VP Tax must have a minimum of 15-20 years of experience in a public accounting firm, law firm, corporation or any combination of these environments; and a BS/BA in Accounting and a CPA, JD or MST required.

Senior Tax Manager, Transactions (Northern California)

Responsibilities: The Senior Tax Manager/Transactions is part of a team responsible for deal structuring, due diligence, post-deal integration, tax attribute management, and opinions and ruling requests. This role serves as a member of multiple client engagement teams, participating in due diligence and structuring engagements related to transactions that private equity and strategic corporate entities pursue. In addition responsibilities include:

Requirements: The Senior Tax Manager/Transactions role requires an individual with a minimum of 6-10 years of experience with no less than three years in transactions. Role requires technical competence across multiple US Federal, International and State Income tax disciplines. A fundamental working knowledge of all non-income based Federal, State and Foreign tax regimes, including but not limited to indirect, payroll, property and Ad Valorem taxes is required. In addition, the individual must have experience managing multiple client engagements and client services teams. The Senior Tax Manager/Transactions must have strong leadership and written and verbal communications skills. Strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills are necessary. Senior Director, Tax (Southern California)

The Senior Director, Tax will be responsible for directing and managing all tax compliance and tax reporting with international, federal, state and local authorities including quarterly and annual tax provision. The Senior Director, Tax will also be responsible for the following: Direct and manage the preparation and review of the worldwide income tax provision including the preparation of the ASC 740 calculations, current and deferred analysis, technical review of tax accounting positions (FIN48, 123R, FAS141R purchase accounting, valuation allowance analysis APB 23 Assertion), tax account reconciliations and return-to-provision reconciliation. Perform quarterly and annual tax reporting and tax closing processes including SEC reporting obligations. Participate in tax due diligence including documentation of the proper accounting and analysis of the tax effects of acquisitions and dispositions. Provide accurate technical research memos regarding quarterly/year-end events. Direct and oversee OneSource tax compliance and tax provision software. Provide tax support across all business units, including headquarters and regions. Monitor tax legislation and effectively communicate relevant developments to management and business units worldwide.

CFO Wanted With REIT Expertise (Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas)

We are currently conducting a search for a CFO who will be accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company, to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. Principal accountabilities are:

Planning

• Assist in formulating the company’s future direction and supporting tactical initiatives

• Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans

• Develop financial and tax strategies

• Manage the capital request and budgeting processes

• Develop performance measures that support the company’s strategic direction

Operations

• Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team

• Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team

• Manage the accounting, human resources, investor relations, legal, tax, and treasury departments

• Oversee the financial operations of subsidiary companies

• Manage any third parties to which functions have been outsourced

• Oversee the company’s transaction processing systems

Desired Qualifications:

The candidate chief financial officer should have a master’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation.  Should have experience in partnering with an executive team, and have a high level of written and oral communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates with an MBA in Finance and the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations.
