Tax Manager (Pleasanton, CA)

Primary responsibilities involve tax compliance, tax accounting, tax research and planning projects for sophisticated clientele. Experience in U.S. federal, international, state and local tax and tax provision is desired in this role.   • Responsibility for advising clients on a wide range of tax matters related to the operation and disposition of corporate business operations.
  • Effectively manage teams, review work papers completed by staff and ensure proper and timely completion of client projects.
  • Manage and coordinate income tax compliance, research and planning, and special projects.
  • Manage and review the preparation of all U.S. federal, state, and local income tax returns and international tax forms.
  • Manage the preparation and review of the quarterly and year-end tax provision and related financial statements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external parties to gather corporate tax information, analyze this information and report it to client.
  • Accurately determine and report clients’ parent and affiliate company taxable income.
  • Determine and monitor estimated income tax payments to minimize clients’ federal and state income taxes.
  • Identify, develop, and implement timely federal, international, state, and local tax planning strategies in order to effectively enhance clients’ tax position.
  • Provide well-written and documented conclusions for tax positions recommended to clients.
  • Proactively identify areas for process improvements and implement solutions to streamline tax processes.
  • Prepare tax research, planning, compliance, and documentation required for tax filings and tax audits.
  • Monitor and analyze proposed and newly enacted tax legislation and regulations and communicate relevant information to clients.

The Tax Manager role requires a minimum of five to ten years tax experience with a solid working knowledge of corporate, partnership and individual taxation. A BS/BA in Accounting, a CPA and/or MST required. Due to the continued growth of this tax practice, the firm will consider candidates with a wide range of tax experience including federal, state, local, international tax compliance and research, and tax provision and tax audits. This opportunity is ideal for individuals with Big Four, national or regional firm experience; or combined public accounting and corporate experience. Senior Tax Analyst (Pleasanton, CA)

M&A Tax Manager (Northern California/California)

The M&A Tax Manager role is available due to the continued expansion and success of the transaction advisory practice. The Tax Manager will be responsible for traditional large firm M&A tax consulting (deal structuring, due diligence, post-deal integration, tax attribute management, and other special projects).
In addition, responsibilities include:

  • Manages client relationships (new and existing);
  • Mentors staff and contributes to team/resource building;
  • Identifies and analyzes tax risks and opportunities while advising both strategic and private equity buyers and sellers on alternative tax strategies for acquisition, disposition, and restructuring of businesses;
  • Assists in reviewing and analyzing definitive agreements and providing tax opinions;
  • Reviews, assesses and advises clients regarding the tax computations reflected in their financial models, and assists clients in the quantitative and qualitative analysis of the tax data in their financial projections for the transaction;
  • Manages risk and financial performance of engagements including budgeting, billing and collections;
  • Teams with other professionals to identify new marketplace opportunities and grow the practice;
  • Builds and manages client relationships and articulate complex information when providing crucial negotiation insights;
  • Develops and mentors staff in order to support career progression.

The Tax Manager role requires an individual with a minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience and requires technical competence across multiple US Federal, International and State Income tax disciplines. Although expected to be a US federal income tax specialist, a fundamental working knowledge of all non-income based Federal, State and Foreign tax regimes, including but not limited to indirect, payroll, property and Ad Valorem taxes is desirable. In addition, the individual must have experience managing multiple client engagements and client services teams. The Tax Manager must have strong leadership, market facing, and written and verbal communications skills.
