We are currently conducting a search to locate a Tax Director for an international client on the east or west coast. - Provide leadership and direction for all domestic and international tax planning, tax provision and tax compliance activities for a REIT.
- Oversee and direct a team responsible for FIN 48 and FAS 109 tax provision calculations and estimates, including DTA/DTL analysis, tax footnotes and related disclosures contained in quarterly and annual filings.
- Oversee and direct tax return preparation and the review and the submission of federal, state, local and consolidated tax returns.
- Consult and coordinate with corporate and operating business executives and accounting groups to ensure proper communication flow.
- Manage SOX activities as it relates to tax procedures and processes and insure that all internal controls and procedures are in place. Oversee REIT tests including asset test and income test.
- Review proposed corporate business transactions and advise management of their impact to the organization. Conduct due diligence, tax review and assessment of proposed acquisitions, divestitures and restructuring activities.
- Defend positions taken on the company’s tax returns and recommend, prepare and file protests to un-agreed audit issues to ensure tax assessments are minimized.
- Monitor and analyze proposed and newly enacted tax legislation and regulations and communicate relevant provisions to management and business units.
- Mentor and motivate tax team to ensure they are building their technical capabilities and awareness of new issues.
