The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Data Book is published annually by the IRS and contains statistical tables and organizational information on a fiscal year basis. The report provides data on collecting the revenue, issuing refunds, enforcing the law, assisting the taxpayer, and the budget and workforce.

- During Fiscal Year (FY) 2018, the IRS collected nearly $3.5 trillion, processed more than 250 million tax returns and other forms, and issued almost $464 billion in tax refunds.
- In FY 2018, close to 58 million taxpayers were assisted by calling or visiting an IRS office.
- The use of IRS website, IRS.gov, continued to grow with almost 608.8 million visits.
- Of the taxpayers who participated in the 2018 Comprehensive Taxpayer Attitude Survey (CTAS), 85 percent said it is not at all acceptable to cheat on their income taxes, and nearly all (95 percent) believe it is a civic duty to pay their fair share of taxes.
