Regulations.Gov – A Valuable Resource For Tax Professionals To Discover Newly Proposed Tax Regulations

Kat Jennings - Regulations.Gov

Many tax professionals are unaware of the www.regulations.gov  website. Regulations.gov is a multi-agency website that enables the public to view and make comments on Federal Regulations that affect them. With more than 35 Federal Departments participating in the website, it is actually designed to encourage public involvement and citizen input.

Recently, I called and asked for a lesson on how to use the www.Regulations.Gov  site and explain it to TaxConnections members.

Regulations.gov is your source for information on the development of Federal regulations and other related documents issued by the U.S. government. Through this site, you can find, read, and comment on regulatory issues that are important to you. On Regulations.gov, you can find and comment on proposed regulations and related documents published by the U.S. Federal government.

How To Use The Regulations.Gov Website To Look Up Newly Proposed Federal Regulations By The IRS

  1. Go to https://www.regulations.gov

In the Agency text box located on the left side of the screen, type in the word “ IRS” and you will see a x IRS appear under Agency Box as a Selected Agency. On the right hand side you can view all the Federal Regulations Proposed and if the Federal Regulation is still open for public commentary with a Comment Now.
