MileIQ Mileage Tracking App – Lisa Jeffries

MileIQ

We’re happy to spotlight the amazing work MileIQ users do every day. This week, we’re excited to speak with Lisa Jeffries, founder of Raleighwood Media. See why there’s no typical day for this go-getter and how automatic mileage tracking comes in handy for her and her events-planning company.

Tell us about your business. What does a typical day look like for you?

As the founder and principal consultant of a boutique marketing and commercial events agency, there is no “typical” day for me. Some days are constantly on the go between meetings, client visits, photo shoots, and launch events, but occasionally there’s even the “office day” in the mix. So, I can spend time clearing out my inbox and following up with a “Thank you card Tuesday” session where I disconnect just long enough to mail out a handful of offline notes.

How many miles do you drive in a typical week? Where do you drive as part of your job?

Some days I’ll barely move my car from my Downtown Raleigh office. That’s when I’ve been slick enough to book things in walking proximity or within the downtown footprint so I can take the R-Line bus circulator. But, there are some weeks where I’m booked on business as far away as Charlotte (about a two and a half hour drive from my office) or even Hilton Head Island, South Carolina (about a five-hour drive away).

My handy MileIQ app tells me that some months I log 2,146 miles and in another it could be 1,381 miles. So, it really varies … a lot. I would estimate an “average” week is between 250-500 miles, though.

What’s changed since you started using MileIQ?

I no longer have to “guesstimate” my mileage. I’m sure my accountant is much more confident in my ability to accurate account for my mileage, too! (Shoutout to Smith & Smith CPA!)

What’s a tip for using MileIQ you’d like to share with others?

Always leave the app open so you don’t miss anything. I’m practically obsessive about closing apps out fully when they’re not in use, but there are two that I always leave open: MileIQ and Dropbox.
