There are tons of special tax benefits for military members. Normally only items called 'Pay' are taxed. Items known as benefits are not normally taxed. Also, if in a Combat Zone, even one's Military Pay is not taxed. Your extension of time to file is longer. I refer you to IRS Publications 521 and Three(3). You can also go to the IRS website and search 'Armed Forces' and many other references will pop up.
