There are tons of special tax benefits for military members. Normally only items called 'Pay' are taxed. Items known as benefits are not normally taxed. Also, if in a Combat Zone, even one's Military Pay is not taxed. Your extension of time to file is longer. I refer you to IRS Publications 521 and Three(3). You can also go to the IRS website and search 'Armed Forces' and many other references will pop up. Don't forget that military members have special protections on items such as home foreclosures and deferral of interest on loans.
Good luck,
