My wife and me were on J-2 (J-1 respectively) visas in NJ for 3 months in 2012. Now we need to file both federal and state tax returns. For the federal taxes we are non-residents and therefore do not need to disclose the worldwide income. In NJ state form NJ-1040NR they provide two columns: "Amount of gross income (everywhere)" and "Amount from NJ sources". Do we need to disclose our world-wide (in our case German) income in state return or does "everywhere" refer only to all the states of the USA? Thanks!
