I moved from michigan to florida in 2015. I lived and worked full time in Florida in 2016. I received 2 payments from Michigan in 2016- a payment from a class action lawsuit against my former employer in MI and a refund on the real estate transfer tax from the State of MI from the sale of my house.

The total of both payments is under $2500. I have no other income from Michigan for 2016. My question is do I need to file a tax return in MI for 2016 ?
thanks.

Yes you would need to file a nonresident return to report your Michigan sourced income.
