response to the 12c letter for the 2015 tax year. We have received your form 1040x and we will notify you when the form 1040x is processed. IS THAT GOOD NEWS OR AM I STILL GOING TO HAVE A LONG WAIT PERIOD? the representative said call back around August 8th. 2016. AMm i going to get the balance for my other qualifying dependents?

Amended returns (Form 1040X) are manually processed by the IRS. For any number of reasons, there is currently a large volume of amended returns being filed. Consequently, nothing happens very quickly. It is my understanding that it currently takes 6-9 months to receive a refund claimed on a 1040X.
