Client is a CAbi distributor of womens clothing. She is a US Citizen living in NJ; CAbi is a US company that only sells/distributes within the US. Client has friends in Zurich, Switzerland and wants to sell clothes to them. She plans to bring her samples to Zurich; have the firends order the clothes they want and pay her in cash. The clothes will be shipped from CAbi to Client in NJ. Client will then travel to Zurich to deliver the clothes. What VISA problems will she have?

Will anyone incur Swiss Duty charges? Does she have to worry about the VAT? Assume her sales will be $10,000. Is there a better way fro her to make these sales and deliver he clothes to her friends?

Generally an 8% VAT would apply to such a transaction, although it would depend on the total order amount by individual. Here is a link to some general information: www.ezv.admin.ch/ezv/en/home/information-individuals/online-shopping--mail-and-courier-consignments/importation-into-switzerland.html You can also make certain declaration online via this website.

I cannot comment on the immigration question. However, another potential issue is the amount of money she would be bringing back into the US. See: https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/195/~/currency-and-monetary-instruments---amount-that-can-be-brought-into-or-leave I would recommend against carrying large sums of cash back into the country even if under $10,000. There are many payment or transfer options available.
