1. How To Sign Up For A Consumer Free Membership
  1. Click on Consumer Sign Up button in upper right hand corner of computer screen.

  6. Click on the link in your email "Validate Your TaxConnections Membership".
  7. You will be brought back to TaxConnections Login page. Login with your email address and password.

2. How To Sign Up For A 45 Day Free Trial Membership
  1. Go to www.taxconnections.com. Click on "Tax Professional Sign Up" in the upper right of the page.

  2. Select "45 Day Free Trial Membership" or "Make Me A Paid Member Now" if you want to become a member now with full benefits.

  3. Fill out your information and check "I agree to TaxConnections Terms of Use and Privacy Policy". Now click "Let's Get Started".

  4. You will be guided to "Let's Get Started" where you will begin building your Tax Professional Profile Page. This may take about 10 minutes and if you need to exit to return to complete, remember to Login and go to "Welcome Your Name" Dropdown Navigation Bar and click "Edit Profile". We recommend you cut and paste from your resume or LinkedIn profile to save time. It is also helpful if you have a photo ready on your desktop because you can easily browse your desktop to upload your photo.
  5. Your "Welcome Navigation Bar" at the top of the screen has a Dropdown list of all Tools available to you. Review "Tutorials" for other features and benefits on TaxConnections.

3. How To Ask Tax Questions
  1. Login or Sign Up for your Free Consumer Membership if this is your first visit to our site.

  2. Click on "Ask Tax Questions" which is displayed across the Header of the site.

  3. You are now on the "Ask Tax Questions" page. Click in the box "Enter Your Tax Question Here…".

  5. Then write your question in the designated box as indicated in the picture below. If you want to provide more details on the question, another box is provided for additional information.

  6. Enter the Topic of your Tax Question to give it a category/tag.

    a. If you are uncertain how to categorize your Topic, simply type any letter into the text box for a list to appear.

    b. If you do not see an appropriate category/tax for your Topic, you can create one when you click "Add More".

  8. Click on "Submit Tax Question" and it will appear on the "Ask Tax Questions" landing page.

4. How To Find The Answers To Previously Asked Questions
  1. Click on "Ask Tax Questions" which is displayed across the Header of the site.

  2. On the left, you will see several search options, the first being "Refine Search." In this search bar, you may type in any keywords that pertain to the topic of your question.

  3. Our search engine will then find all the questions related to that keyword and bring up the results for you.

  4. If you are searching for questions specific to a certain country, you may use the "Refine by Location" search bar.

5. How To Find A Tax Professional
  1. Go to www.taxconnections.com.
  2. Type what you want to search for in the open box under "Find A Tax Professional Around The World". Search by tax expertise, location, title, degrees, certifications, tax professional by name, postal code, etc.

  3. Example: Search results for "CPA". While this search produced pages of CPA’s, this example is just showing a small sample of Tax Professionals with this distinction.

  4. Click on your choice or retype a new search in the search box.
6. How To Send A Message To A Tax Professional
  1. Register for a Free Consumer Membership or Login if you have previously registered.

  2. Type what you want to search for in the open box under "Find A Tax Professional Around The World". Search by tax expertise, location, title, degrees, certifications, tax professional by name, postal code, etc.

  3. Select a Tax Professional and go to their Tax Professional Profile Page.
  4. Click on the "Send Message" Button on their Tax Professional Profile Page.

  5. A Pop Up screen will appear that asks you to introduce yourself and write a message.

  6. Click on “Send Message” and wait for the Tax Professional to Accept you into their Tax Boardroom.
  7. Once accepted and in a Tax Professionals Tax Boardroom (Virtual Tax Office), you can communicate with them directly behind the scenes.

7. How To Build Your Book of Contacts
  1. Go to www.taxconnections.com. Click on "Login".

  2. This brings you to the "Login" page. Enter your Email Address and Password and click the blue Login button.

  3. You are now on the main landing page for Consumers. Notice the “Welcome Your Name” above the Header Bar.
  4. Now you need to start building your Contacts for your Book of Contacts.
  5. Go to “Find a Tax Professional” and enter your search criteria. You can search by Tax Expertise, Location, Title, Degrees, Certifications, etc. Find who you would like to connect with due to private questions you may have, questions to discuss in further detail, get more in-depth information about their blog post or just to add them to your book of contacts.
  6. Now that you have found the Tax Professional you want to connect with, click on “Connect With Me”.

  7. Complete the message information that will send a request to the Tax Professional.

  8. The Tax Professional will receive your request in their Tax Boardroom. You will receive a screen notice that your request has been sent.

  9. When the Tax Professional accepts your request, you will receive an "Alert". Click on the "See Alerts" in the "Welcome Your Name" dropdown menu and you will have notification that the Tax Professional is now connected to you and you may interact with them in the Tax Boardroom. You will also receive an Email with a link to enter their Tax Boardroom.

  10. Continue to Build your Book of Contacts to have your own Directory of Tax Professionals.
8. How To Write A Review On A Tax Professional
  1. Sign Up For a TaxConnections Free Consumer or Tax Professional Membership. If you are already a member, you can simply Login. www.taxconnections.com

  2. Enter the name of the Tax Professional you would like to review into the "Find A Tax Professional Around The World" search field.

  4. When you are on the Tax Professional's Profile page, select the "Click To Write A Review" button to the right of the screen.

  5. When you click on the "Write A Review" button, a pop up screen will appear that allows you to write your review. After you have filled out the form, select "Submit Review".

  6. An Email notification is then sent to the Tax Professional you reviewed to notify them.
9. Views To Your Tax Professional Profile Page
    (Only Members Can View These Numbers In Their Private Tax Boardrooms)

10. How To Sign Up For A Tax Professional Membership

13. How To Download Your eBook After Purchase
  1. After you have purchased a TaxConnections eBook, login to your TaxConnections account with your Email Address and Password and select “Login”. You may select “Keep Me Logged In” to have your TaxConnections Login remain live on your browser when opened. You must have a membership (either Consumer or Tax Professional) to download eBook purchases. If you do not have a membership, select “Sign Up”.

15. How To Upload Your Tax Library On Your Profile Page

  5. Click on the "Upload Library Documents" Bar.

  6. A Pop Up Screen will appear that allows you to Upload Library Documents for visitors to view. Click on "Browse…" to get to the document for uploading then double click the document to attach it to your profile.(doc, docx, txt, xlsx, csv, ppt, pptx, and pdf only.)

  7. "Title Your Document" – Place the title for your document in the field box and click "Next".

You can choose to display your documents on your Tax Professional Profile Page for everyone to see, or in your Virtual Tax Office only (a.k.a., your Tax Boardroom). Special Note: If you want your documents to be viewed only by those individuals you "Accept" into your Tax Boardroom, please select "Tax Boardroom – Private View".

16. How To Add Documents To Your Tax Library

  3. You have an option to display your documents on your Tax Professional Profile – Public View, your Tax Boardroom Page – Private View or both areas. If you only want visitors who are invited into your virtual office to see your documents, then put them in the Tax Boardroom – Private View. If you want the public to see what is in the documents, we suggest you put them on your Tax Professional Profile – Public View.
  4. Click on “Upload Library Documents” and a Pop Up Screen to begin uploading documents to your Tax Library.

  5. Select "Browse…" to search your computer for the document you wish to add to your Tax Library. Double Click on the document.

  6. Give your document the title that will appear in your Tax Library. Select “Next”.

  7. This will take you to the “Visibility Options” window where you can control the settings of who sees your document. The document you are loading can either be in “Private” view behind the scenes visible only to those you have allowed into your Tax Boardroom, or in “Public” view to be seen by all who visit your Tax Professional Profile page.

  8. If your privacy settings are acceptable, click “Finish” to complete loading this document.

  9. The document now appears in your Tax Library. Select “Upload Library Documents” to add more documents. Select “Edit/Delete Documents” to make changes to your Tax Library.

  10. You can upload up to nine documents into your Tax Boardroom if you have a Gold Membership. Trial Members may upload only six documents. We recommend that you upload documents to create more interest in your Tax Professional Profile. 17. How To Edit/Delete Documents In Your Tax Library

You can edit the title by clicking in the box and renaming your publication, selecting the blue arrow dropdown to change the documents visibility (visible to Tax Boardroom visitors only, or viewed on your Tax Professional Profile Page), or select the “X” to delete the publication.

  6. It is important to select “Update” to save your changes. You may upload up to nine articles/documents/publications in your tax library if you have a Gold Membership. Trial Members are only allowed six documents.

18. How To Setup Your Tax Library For Private View

There are Two View Options for your Tax Library:

  1. "Tax Boardroom and Professional Profile View": Whenever you upload documents to your Tax Professional Profile Page, Visitors view your Tax Library documents. (We also display the same documents in your Tax Boardroom – Private View.)
  2. Tax Boardroom – Private View: When you upload documents to your Tax Boardroom, only those visitors you screen through to your Tax Boardroom can view these documents.

19. How To Access And Use Your Book of Contacts
  1. Go to www.taxconnections.com. Click on "Login".

  3. You are now in an exclusive area for Tax Professionals. (Notice the Header Bar is Green.)

    To Access your Book of Contacts, click on “Welcome Your Name” above the Header Bar to see the dropdown menu. Click on “Book of Contacts”.

  4. Since you have been building your Book of Contacts, when you open your book, you will see an alphabetized list of every guest you have screened through to your Tax Boardroom.
  5. Click on a Contact and this will take you to their Tax Boardroom where you can communicate directly with this person.
  6. You can keep Boardroom Notes in the right column on your discussions and follow up tasks.
20. How To Build Your Book of Contacts
  1. Go to www.taxconnections.com and “Login”. Enter your Email Address and Password and select “Login”. You may select “Keep Me Logged In” to have your TaxConnections Login remain live on your browser when opened.

  5. Now that you have found the Tax Professional you want to connect with, click on “Connect With Me”.

  7. The Tax Professional will receive your request in their Tax Boardroom. They can "Accept" or "Pass" the request.

  8. When accepted, you will receive an “alert” stating that you are now both connected and are able to interact in your Tax Boardroom, as well as, be listed in your Book of Contacts.

  9. Continue to Build your Book of Contacts to have your own Directory of Tax Professionals that you have approved. You can also have approved “Consumers” appear in your Book of Contacts.
21. How To Upload Your Photo To Your Profile
  1. Go to www.taxconnections.com. Click on “Login”. Enter your Email Address and Password and select “Login”. You may select “Keep Me Logged In” to have your TaxConnections Login remain live on your browser when opened.

  3. This is the area that you can edit all of the information on your Tax Professional Profile. To upload your photo, select the last category “Upload A Picture”.

  4. Upload your Profile Picture by clicking “Browse” to search your computer for your picture. Format should be .jpg or png. “Double Click” on the picture to select it for your Profile. Do not upload company logos, pictures of your children, pets, etc.
  5. Next you will need to “crop” your image. Click and stretch the corners of the box and grab the middle of your picture to select the placement you want for your profile.

  6. Click “Save Changes” to set your photo to your Profile. This step will place you on the Home Page in the “Featured Tax Professionals” section when your profile has been completed within ten days of sign up!

  7. Click “View Profile” to see what Consumers and Tax Professionals will see as your Profile picture.

  8. If additional editing is needed, go back to “Edit Profile” in the "Welcome Your Name" menu bar. Scroll to the bottom to "Upload A Picture".

22. How To Upload A Video To Your Profile

  5. From this page, go to the YouTube link on your screen and continue to follow these instructions (1 through 5 below).

24. How To View All The Tax Questions Answered
  1. Login to your Tax Professional Account and click on your “Welcome Dropdown Navigation Bar.”

25. How To Answer Tax Questions
  1. You must be a member of TaxConnections Worldwide Directory of Tax Professionals and logged in to Answer Tax Questions on the site. Tax Professional members answer by selecting "Ask Tax Questions".

  2. Select "Tax Professionals: Answer A Tax Question".

  3. Click on the question that you would like to answer and the "Answer This Question" box appears. Type your response in the Text Box and select "Submit Answer".

  4. If you want further clarification on the question before you answer it, select "Request Clarification." A field is displayed that asks you to "Clarify Your Tax Question".
  5. Once you press "Submit Answer", the answer to your question will appear on the Home Page (only if you are a paid member with your photo on your profile); your question will appear on your Tax Professional Profile page (this is important because the text words that appear on your profile screen are synced up with our Find A Tax Professional feature.)

  6. The "Leave A Comment" button enables you to leave a comment on any answer to a tax question. You may comment on another tax professional's answer. We expect you to be courteous. See Example:

26. How To Change Your Email Address For Your Account

28. How To View Your Notifications
  1. TaxConnections sends a Notification whenever you have a message waiting for you. The square red box to the right of your "Welcome Your Name" Green Dropdown Navigation bar indicates the number of notifications you have waiting to be viewed.

  2. Click on the “Welcome Your Name” Green Dropdown Navigation bar to view your Notifications.
  3. Notifications will be indicated by a red number in each category you have a notification. This example shows 5 notifications for the "Tax Boardroom" and 13 alerts on new connections placed in your "Book of Contacts." Once you view your Notification, the number will disappear.

29. How To Post Your Event On TaxConnections

30. How To Post A Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Course
  1. You must Login as a Tax Professional.  If you are not a Tax Professional, please Sign Up for a Free Consumer Membership.  Once you have your Consumer Membership, Email TaxConnections at:  support@taxconnections.com.  You may request a complimentary upgrade to a Tax Events Administrator to post your Organizations Continuing Professional Education Courses providing your company website in the Email.

  8. Browse your computer for the Event Logo or Image for easy recognition on TaxConnections Tax Events Page.

  11. Provide your attendees with the Course Description and Benefits of taking the Course.

  12. Provide the Name, Title, Company, Photo and background/biography of your Course Professor/Educator/Trainer. 
  13. Complete the Contact Information for attendee communication.

  14. The final page is where you can promote any Course Credits and provide cost information for the Continuing Professional Education Course being offered.

     

  15. Once you have completed the last page, check the box agreeing to TaxConnections Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

Grab the middle of your picture and hold the cursor to position the placement you want for your photo. Click "Crop Image" to set this to your Profile.

  7. Adding a Picture to your post adds appeal to the article. Select "Set Featured Image" and select your picture from purchased or approved sources. Pictures must be square to conform to TaxConnections style.

  2. Type what you want to search for in the open box under "Find A Tax Professional Around The World". Search by tax expertise, location, title, degrees, certifications, tax professional by name, postal code, etc.
